Beginning Tonight, January 31, 4 PM
Beginning January 31 we’ll be serving our pork carnitas for a few days, until they run out.
Our butcher is sending us a small supply of pastured Duroc pork that we slow cook in our special braising recipe, and the result is absolutely delicious!
And believe it or not, we’ve been told our carnitas have magical powers that will help you get through the last few weeks of winter!
As if things couldn’t couldn’t be any better, we have a few new beers that go really well with carnitas, including Yazoo Sue, Sierra Nevada Glissade, Magic Hat #9, NOLA Brewing’s 7th Street Wheat, Stiegl Goldbrau and Weihenstephaner Original. Enjoy!!!

Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company of Kiln, Mississippi’s is making this month’s firkin!
The Banana Nut Brown Ale advertised in last month’s newsletter unfortunately exploded during second fermentation. The wisdom of the brewers was evident as they had another cask-conditioned beer ready to go. The Southern Pecan that will be tapped has a hint of Chai Tea added. This should be interesting ….
This month’s firkin is actually a pin, which is smaller, holding 4.5 gallons of unpasteurized, unfiltered beer that is naturally carbonated.
We tap a firkin, and sometimes a pin, on the first Monday of every month at 4 o’clock.
Next Month - NOLA Brewing Company of New Orleans … just in time for Mardi Gras
You won’t find an expensive, coursed Valentine’s menu at El Rey, nor will you have to make a reservation - it’s just another night for us. But we are making are a couple of amazing desserts, including our new chocolate ganache with olive oil! This dessert will get you out of the dog house, if, for some reason, you are in the dog house.
